Record Breaking

I'm not particularly fussy about records and that.

I was, however, proud that when I retired from work I was the longest serving member of the service, 41+ years.

And, when I stopped attending my local wargames club I was the longest continuous member, 40+ years so a bit proud again.

Todays record is nothing to be proud of.

I have been to hospital twice today, Christmas Day.

First time was just after midnight and the second around lunchtime. Both were painful, wet and bloody affairs. Two days until my consultant meeting now.

  1. Not the sort of Christmas surprise one hopes for. Hang on in there Jim. Let me know if you require a restorative blether about toy soldiers.

    1. My main focus at the moment (hobby wise) is to finish a commission I am doing for a good friend. A couple of weeks should do it.

Thereafter I am looking at trimming the dead wood in my collections. I have so much.

    1. Thanks Simon. I've had reassuring noise from some of the junior doctors that I have seen. Just no sign of an action plan.

  3. Jim, not a place I would wish to spend Christmas, for sure. Hopefully the consultant can provide reassurance or at least an action plan. What I don't understand is why is it so seemingly difficult to see a physician.

    Take care.

    1. I've been so often recently that I am on first name terms with many of the nursing staff.

  4. Jim,

Although I've already written a comment elsewhere, it doesn't do any harm to repeat that I - and everyone else who knows you - is hoping that your current medical problem is dealt with ASAP, and that the outcome is a good one. Your fortitude in the face of what has been a very difficult time for you is something that deserves the greatest respect going.

    All the best,

    Bob

    1. Minor breakthrough this evening when I was on the verge of giving in again and heading off to hospital and I managed to pass two massive blood clots which warranted a photograph to show my doctors.

  7. Keep your spirits up! Hopefully your appointment with the consultant pays off, and I'm sure you'll be back at the brushes in no time. Let's hope that you'll be able to end this year on a positive note and start looking forward to a speedy recovery in 2018!

    1. Don't think the recovery will be particularly quick but as long as that procedure starts soon I will be happier.
