This is a quick size comparison: (for a webfriend)
The Rolls Royce Armoured Car here is 1:56 (or 28mm).
The figure (Valiant Miniatures) is 1:72, often equated to 20mm.
Gamewise these are just about useable together, particularly if you base the figure appropriately.
However, I do understand that Valiant Miniatures are large-ish compared to other 1:72 manufacturers so the size mismatch may not improve.
Can anyone help here?
I measured up some Valiant plastics against 25mm RAFM Colonial and Riel Rebellion figures and they were pretty much the same size. I would call Valiants "true" 25mm rather than 20mm or 28mm.
ReplyDeleteYes, the one figure I have here is 25mm from foot to top of head so is definitely not 20mm.
DeleteThere's a thread on TMP about Valiant: http://theminiaturespage.com/boards/msg.mv?id=101342
ReplyDeleteSimply to say that Valiant figures are proper 1:72 scaled , 25mm in size whereas many other manufacturers who say they are 1:72 or 1:76 and clearly are not as well as some 20mm manufacturers say they 1:72 or 1:76 when they are not either.
DeleteDear Jim,
ReplyDeleteIt's reassuring to see a properly proportioned officer with a map, adopting a heroic pose and pointing!
Regards, Chris.
I like the pose too but am not sure if I can say that he is properly proportioned.
DeleteHe is if you are in a properly scaled 1:72 or 25mm world but not if you are in a 1:56 or 28mm world or even a poorly scaled 1:72 or 1:76 or 20mm.
