Some insights into a crazy world of model soldiers, toys to some, a business to others, an amazing realm where there are no limits other than your imagination, tempered with a bit of research and history.
Wish I could Jim....bit of a hike for me though! I think Claymore is the event I attended twice in the mid to late 70's as a 13 to 15 year old, with my dad and a couple of gaming school friends...we also did one in Glasgow one year...three remains the total number of wargaming shows I have ever attended, sadly!
I remember Raymond, we wrote a set of Middle Earth wargaming rules together, which only ever were hand written copies. I have a copy still, somewhere in the house. Alan Tradgardland
Unfortunately I will miss Claymore again as working. Good to hear you are getting out and about. I trust you are slightly recovered. You wouldn't have any old school pike and shot for sale would you?
Jim, it was good to chat with you and discuss all of the various places in America you visited. It was nice to finally put a face to someone who's name/account on various wargames topics. Glad to hear the market sales were good for you!
Hi, it seems I short changed you on my list of US states that I have visited. New York, New Jersey, Florida, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada and California. Given my age I doubt I'll add to that now.
The flea market was good business for me as I am downsizing with a long way to go yet. Roll on the next show.

ReplyDeleteThat's a great pity, you would enjoy yourself immensely.
DeleteOne of our historic members disappeared down under somewhere past Oz. Raymond Hutchison, do you know him?

Unfortunately, unknown to me Jim...I will try to remember to mention Raymond to our group, though.

Hi Mike
DeleteI am as fit as I'll ever be now. Just back from a week in the sun, a deep water dip in the Atlantic and a few hills that brought me to a standstill.
Only P&S I have is in 'Epic' scale as a painting test.
Just finished a big commission for an old friend. 30 Years War Swedish in 28mm, took forever.
Hope you are well.
Jim
No matter pike and shot no doubt a passing fancy.
DeleteHopefully catch you at a future Claymore.
Regards Mike
Hi Mike
DeleteHope so.
I am swithering to take my walking stick as my knees and right hip are a bit 'dicky' but the stick gives me a considerable shoulder pain too.
Jim
I won't be up as I am too far out of Newcastle to get a lift! - never mind. Have a great time anyway!
ReplyDeleteThat's a pity.
DeleteIt will be nice to speak with you. See you there!
ReplyDeleteHi Bart
DeleteGood to hear from you, I'll be on the flea market AM and also perhaps in PM.
Jim

I have been downsizing for about three years, Simon
ReplyDeleteThis particular phase of downsizing is to create room to store more recent acquisitions as well playing room for me and my chums.
