A few more test paints, working on how to paint different tartans.
Heaven help me when I do a piper. My source book has him illustrated with a tartan jacket and a kilt with a different tartan and red and whited diced socks.
Anyone spot the 'indeliberate' error?
Looking good, Jim!

DeleteThey are a commission for a friend and I've never done much in the way of tartan except for the Government Sett.
Jim,
ReplyDeleteThese are miniature works of art! I don’t know how you painted them, but the results are very impressive!
All the best,
Bob
Thanks Bob, very welcome. I could tell you how to paint them but you will tell me that you do not have the skill or the eye-sight to do so.

Very nice work, Jim!
ReplyDeleteThanks Roger
DeleteLovely work Jim!
ReplyDeleteAlan Tradgardland
Thanks Alan
DeleteThey'll be going to a cottage not too far away from the duchy.
Very nice indeed. I have always been intimidated by tartan (and diced hose etc.) so can only admire your patience and skill.
ReplyDeleteIs it the cockade on the second one? :-)
Colkitto
The commission came as a follow up to some Government forces so I was sort of obliged to do tartan. I had to experiment to get the right balance of detail which I could achieve.
DeleteIt is the cockade on the second figure, and his shoes.
Jim
Stunning, Jim.
ReplyDeleteIf Alan's a very good boy he might get to play with them.
Ronnie
Alan will have to be a very very good boy to play with these figures.
DeleteThese look great Jim.
ReplyDeleteYes, I think so.
DeleteWould be nice to know who you are.
