Well, not quite never but I did buy a snow shovel that last time it snowed here in 2010 and I never used it until today.
First thing after breakfast I shovelled a path to the wargames hut. Essential work.
By lunchtime I had also cleared the front garden path to make it easier to reach my car.
I cleared the car too but then it started snowing again.
After lunch I cleared the path to the wargames hut again, then the front garden path and then the car again.
Clearing the car again was deemed to be essential as I was due to meet my Consultant Urologist for a wee chat that afternoon but being weather wise we decided not to travel taking advice from TV, Radio and On-Line sources as well as family and neighbours who had been out on the roads already.
As it happened the Consultant phoned me at home and we discussed where we are.
It seems I am clear of cancer. I am still due to have some scans and some blood tests, just to be sure otherwise I am free to get on with the rest of my life. So, once this snow gets out the way I can get on with my hobby work in the wargames hut.
Meanwhile it is still snowing. I checked the car again.
Yup, I'll have to clear the car again but that can wait until tomorrow.
Apologies to my continental readers who are accustomed to dealing with metres of snow and not the piddly inch and a bit we have here. Like I said it never snows here.

We have had quite a lot of snow in our part of South East London, and I had to clear our garden path and car to go shopping yesterday. Today's snow will need to be cleared tomorrow before Sue and I go shopping. It is predicted that we will have more heavy snow tomorrow afternoon and then again on Friday. With luck the weather will improve over the weekend.
One advantage of having a toy/wargames room in our house is that I don't have to dig my way through the snow to get to it ... but the stairs are a trial for my knees, especially if I am carrying anything.
I hope that your area manages to avoid more snow, and that you have a restful time over the weekend.

Our forecast is for several hours of heavy snow overnight and I've just peeked out the windows, front and back and there is no shortage of snow flakes coming down.

ReplyDeleteA bit of a morning quandary coming up for tomorrow morning. Eldest daughter often gets a lift to her work if public transport is lacking. Youngest daughter has her son collected for us to babysit and then driven to work (opposite direction to other daughter). This entails clearing the car first of all as well as checking traffic details on either of the two busiest roads in the neighbourhood both of which were struggling on day one of the snow here. There is several hours of heavy snow forecast overnight. It is snowing heavily as I type.

Bladder infection in November revealed the tumour.
Op removed the cancer in January.
As near normal as I can be in March.

Have not seen Snow Falling- just once on distant hills near Mittagong (NSW- Australia) there were patches of snow- thawing in the winter sun...I'd missed the day before for the falling. It looks nice- snow- though I expect it is very cold. Best Wishes. KEV.
It might be cold outside but I've just come in sweating like a pig as I've cleared a path to the wargames hut, at last, as well as the front garden path and the street where my car is parked.

ReplyDeleteHad a soft-ish tyre so took car to local garage about a mile and a bit away. Had to leave it so walked home rather than wait.
DeleteWalked back later to collect car and drove home.
I then cleared hard packed snow from the pavement outside my house.
Haven't collapsed in a heap so one could say I'm much better.
That does sound like progress! Take heart, my friend, and enjoy your returned vigour!

Jim, Good to see you're on the mend. I could have taken a photo of the snow fest where Storm Emma met the Beast from the East over Sussex. But the 1cm of snow lead to most of the office being sent home!
