I need a commander for the 7YW Prussian brigade I am painting for a friend.
Eagle Miniatures supplied the figures at a recent show. Here he is with an ADC awaiting some tufts and static grass.
In the background is the next 7YW Prussian battalion from Crusader and some artillery by Eagle Miniatures.
The black undercoat gives a great basecolour for Prussian Blue.
Some insights into a crazy world of model soldiers, toys to some, a business to others, an amazing realm where there are no limits other than your imagination, tempered with a bit of research and history.

Romans at Waterloo
Well, not really, they just happen to be on my painting table at the same time as some Napoleonics I am doing for a friend.
Caesarian Romans recently purchased at a recent show for a good price.
They paint up nicely and hopefully will sell nicely at the next show.
I combined both the pila armed men and the gladius armed men into two units.
Next up are the British Light infantry I am doing for a friend.
Just got static grass and tufts to do then they can be off to their new owner.
Next in the queue are some 7YW Prussians.

Napoleonics - WIP - 2018
Here is a unit (brigade) of British Light Infantry, Waterloo period which I am painting as a charitable commission for a good friend.
They will be deployed in the 2019 Great Game as part of the Waterloo Uncovered Project.
http://www.waterloouncovered.com/
They are composed of a 3 battalion Regiment (don't ask) all with full colours although only the 1st battalion will deploy colours on the day.
The figures are Front Rank, bases by Warbases, painted by myself and awaiting attention to their scenic dressing.

Warbases Loading Shovel
One of my recent purchases was Warbases Loading Shovel from their Sci-Favela range.
https://warbases.co.uk/?product=sci-favela-loading-shovel
Here's how mine turned out.
All very dinky and neat, should I 'weather' it?

Skelp 2018 - Goodie List
Just a modest collection of goodies acquired at todays Skelp (small show in Forfar).
A few paints from Colonel Bill.
A Sci_Fi Loading Shovel (Warbases) should we ever get back into Sci-Fi.
Some big crates and some small crates for clutter.
Some beds and chairs, perhaps for the Jungle Hut.
Looks like bottles and glasses, originally by Scotia Grendel now marketed by Warbases.
Some rats, for everywhere.
Some round bits for round bit bases.
A preview of a new-ish item.
Something like this.
And the ubiquitous bag of 40 x 40's.
I'll let you know how they turned out.
As for Storm Callum, a bit of a whimper most of the time.

In the Jungle, the Mighty ...
... Jungle, the Lion sleeps tonight.
Well at least the Prussian had gone away.
Instead some Zanzibari's come snooping around.
Looking a touch greener this jungle hut has a new resident.
A bit greener down that side.
And that side too.
Greener up top too.
And round the back too.
It blends in nicely when more of the jungle turns up.
Time for a game then.

Prussian in a Jungle Hut
Yes, that's right, there's a Prussian in my jungle hut.
Are you sure?
Yes, he's definitely a Prussian. What's he doing here?
I was too lazy to find a more appropriate figure (if I have one) while I was keen to get some WIP photos of my jungle hut. It's a Warbases building.
https://warbases.co.uk/?product=bahay-kubo-hut
I've added a few internal details.
And a few outside.
I've added a few matchsticks to beef up the underfloor supports, a simple job even for the most ham handed modeller.
A mosquito net is a must-have for any whiteman endeavours here.
Lots of clutter here ...
... and there.
What's next?
Some more clutter, inside and out, and, wait a minute ... some jungle.
Watch this space.

Prussian IR No 1
In between continuing bouts of tiredness, trips to the doctor and some more antibiotics I have managed to finish a regiment of 7YW Prussians for a friend.
Glad they are done.
4 battalions of Napoleonics are in the immediate queue and another 7YW Prussian Infantry Regiment to follow.
Busy days.

40 Winks and some Pots
Am getting some little fiddly bits done.
Some matchsticks, Milliput, medical gauze and some scraps of plastic card.
Makes a change from laying slabs in sand and cement.

Slowly Slowly Catchy Monkey
That's been a month since Claymore and I feel as if I am getting somewhere albeit slowly. Having finally got my cancer monkey off my back I can start to look ahead and get things moving again. I still get the odd day when I just have to have 40 winks and sometimes 40 winks more. My GP said it can sometimes take 6 months or even a year to get over radical surgery. If that is the case then I'm well past half way.
Last weekend I was at Border Reiver in Gateshead. A nice and not-so-little show a reasonable distance from Edinburgh. I made a few purchases, details below.
Some essential paint and brushes.
Some Napoleonics from Eagle Miniatures.
Some wildlife for a future project.
Some tents for another future project.
Some matt spray varnish which I am getting good results with.
And another future project.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch (hut) I have been making some army camps for my Teutonic Order forces.
A few bits of MDF, some matchsticks, some blue foam, some gravel and a lick of paint provides a camp occupied by some secondhand tents suitably embellished and occupied by a few Brothers.
Not a difficult build but quite a few matchsticks though.
The tents can be whisked away and the camp occupied by fighting troops should the need arise.
Playingwise we've had a few games of What A Tanker by the Two Fat Lardies.
Nice game although suffers a wee bit from a lack of scenarios.
We will persevere a bit longer.
